About Jean King
I was born and raised in the Redding area and graduated from Anderson Union High School. I received my BA from the University of California Santa Barbara. I am a Real Estate Broker and have been in the real estate business since 1984. My career began working with investment properties for RAS Limited Partnerships in California, Texas, Colorado, Arizona and Louisiana. I owned JMR Commercial Property Management Company in Colorado Springs, CO. and Sunset Management in Santa Barbara, CA. I was Director of Faculty Housing for UCSB and was responsible for selling university owned homes to faculty, being a liason to their homeowners association and processing loans to faculty to purchase homes in the community. I sold residential real estate in Santa Barbara, CA as well as in Redding. I have remodeled residential and commercial properties for resale purposes.
My other jobs have included being Associate Director of the UCSB Alumni Association and Executive Director of the UCSD Alumni & Friends where I was also was responsible for all fund raising from alumni. I served as Assistant Director of Finance in a US Presidential campaign where I raised $400,00/mo. through fund raising events. I was a consultant to the Office of UC President External Relations advising on Alumni and Governmental Relations. I was Director of the UCSB Family Vacation Center, an income producing program for the university, which brings alumni and their families back to campus. That program served over 3,000 people per summer. I supervised nearly 100 staff, mostly UCSB students.
I returned to Redding in 2005 to be nearer my close-knit family. My husband, Butch King, retired as a pilot from Northwest Airlines in 2008 and is a recent retiree from the California Air National Guard. Our hobbies include entertaining in our home in the Silvercreek Subdivision, playing golf , vacationing in our 2nd home in Sunriver Oregon, traveling and enjoying our mini-Schnauzer’s Emma and Lucy.
